How we choose our videographers

Who we are

The people behind Wedding Video Ireland have worked in Irish weddings for more than a decade: filming them, editing them, and standing in a lot of church porches waiting for the rain to pass. We started this site because engaged couples kept asking the same question, who is actually good, and most of the answers they could find were advertisements.

The site is run from Dublin. It isn't a studio and it doesn't take bookings. If you hire a videographer you found here, you deal with them directly and we don't take a cut.

How the list is put together

We feature a small number of Irish wedding videographers we've personally watched deliver across multiple seasons. The criteria are practical rather than promotional:

• Consistency of finished films across bright summer weddings and dim winter receptions, judged on complete films rather than showreels.
• Clean audio in difficult acoustic spaces: stone churches, marquees, hotel ballrooms.
• Discretion on the day. Couples and guests should barely notice them.
• Reliable communication in the months before the wedding, and delivery when promised.
• A recognisable personal style, so couples can match their day to a filmmaker rather than the other way around.

Nobody pays to be listed

No videographer pays to be listed, featured or ranked, and there are no sponsored placements, affiliate links or referral fees anywhere on the site. Wedding Video Ireland has no income and is run as a not-for-profit resource for couples. The only way onto the list is to be recommended, watched over several seasons, and found to be consistently good.

We update the list as new studios prove themselves and remove ones whose standards slip. The same goes for the photographers we recommend.

How we write the guides

Everything in the planning guides comes from the same place: what we've seen go right and wrong at Irish weddings, checked against published figures where they exist (the weddingsonline annual survey, the CSO's marriage statistics, the HSE's civil registration rules; the main ones are gathered on our Irish wedding statistics page). Where a figure is an estimate, we say so. If you find something out of date, we'd rather know.
